We Wish You A Merry Craftmas

Late December, 2009: the libraries of South Staffordshire rang with the sounds of chattering children and snapping crackers as we, the Big Art People, ran our 5th lot of craft sessions.

We worked with loads of kids (and the odd parent), in Wombourne, Perton, Brewood, Codsall, Penkridge, and Cheslyn Hay.

The children all made wintery scenes on paper plates, shiny crowns, and customized crackers (complete with joke). Truly the spirit of Christmas was in the air, and it was a lovely end to a rather hectic year.

We have just one set of craft sessions to go, during February half term. What the theme is we do not yet know, but rest assured the crafts will be as crafty as ever.

In other news, Perton library has received some funding for us to do a pebble mosaic in their courtyard, in conjunction with the local community...so that's exciting!

Crafty Christmas at Fradley

Image by yuichi.sakuraba via FlickrWe want to say thanks to everyone who came, helped out, created, sang and enjoyed the Crafty Christmas event at Fradley Junction today, as well as a massive thanks to British Waterways and Alrewas Arts Festival for helping to make it happen.

We will be uploading photos from the event, as well as worksheets to remind you of how to make those irresistable little sleeping mice and the funky paper lanterns, in the next few days, so remember to check back later to see those!

We would also like to take the opportunity to wish you all a very happy Christmas, and a great New Year! We've got some big plans for next year, including the imminent launch of our brand spanking new website, as well as some cracking new projects and events, both in and out of schools--we're very excited!

What is going on?!

Why are the Big Art people creeping through the dark streets of Alrewas, armed with a lantern and a stepladder?

Surely they must be up to no good.

Oh no, they're just bringing a bit of festive cheer to a local landmark!
